700CL-X HERITAGE WINS AUTOCAR'S MOTORCYCLE OF THE YEAR

25/02/2022

The CFMOTO 700CL-X Heritage has been named 'best motorcycle' in New Zealand Autocar's 2021 annual awards process.

The Heritage, part of the new frontier three-model CL-X family for CFMOTO as it breaks out of the learners-only segment for the first time, is powered by a 693cc parallel-twin engine that delivers 73hp (55kW) at 8500rpm and 68Nm at an impressively low 6500rpm – a potent mid-range ideal for city riding and weekend escapes.

Priced at $10,990 plus on-road costs, the technical highlights include Bosch fuel-injection, split connecting rods, a slipper clutch, and forged pistons for strength and reduced weight and inertia.

Styled by CFMOTO’s European design team, the 700CL-X Heritage represents an amazing value-packed proposition in the middleweight road bike segment, with standard features including a ride-by-wire throttle, cruise control, dual-channel Continental anti-lock braking, Spanish J.Juan brakes, ‘Sport’ and ‘Economy’ riding modes, full LED lighting, USB charging, self-cancelling indicators and an adaptive headlight.

New Zealand Autocar rode the Heritage for the first time in November last year — just in time to make the cut-off for 2021 motorcycle of the year deliberations.

Peter Louisson, who reviewed the Heritage, was extremely impressed, and concluded his review with: "For $10,990 you simply cannot do better at present if buying new. If you can, please let me know how."

The Heritage is sold in New Zealand alongside the 700CL-X Sport ($10,990 plus on-road costs), and will soon be joined by the sire-wheeled 700CL-X Adventure.
